COMMUNITY SELF-MANAGEMENT OF WATER

We strengthened the organization among the inhabitants of the Chiquimula, Ch'orti' region, with a model of community self-management of water.

  • COMMUNITY SELF-MANAGEMENT OF WATER

Besides the high scarcity and vulnerability to droughts, resource management is the biggest challenge in this area. We established a Water Committee integrated by the inhabitants, who manage, maintain and operate the access system (artesian well) that we installed to supply water in quality and quantity to 57 families.

Empowering people this way, we promoted the sustainability of the intervention and created a model that can be replicated in other regions.
